I'm thinking of going to an LDS sacrament meeting tomorrow. It'll be fascinating. I read "No Man Knows My History" by Fran Brodie. It's hard for me to conceive of Joseph Smith as anything but a charlatan, but I'll be damned if the Mormons don't bear fruit.
Bearing fruit is a big fucking deal, people. If you are nice and make other people's burdens lighter, you bear fruit. If you are mean to gays and are impatient with others, you do not bear fruit.
I wish that everyone just felt the human pull to be nice to others. Unfortunately, they mostly feel the pull to be "righteous" in the eternal realm.
I am a humanist and strive to be kind to humans. I don't care about what happens to me after I die. What happens now is all that matters. Be kind to your fellow man. That is all.
